This is a stunning and unusual 1960s large gilt-wood framed overmantel or hallway mirror which incorporates an older gilt high-relief carving. The carving is primarily birds and flowers. Where the gilt has worn over time, the red underpainting can be seen which is very pretty. There is one small section on the right hand far side of the carving (shown) which looks like old losses. The mirror is bevelled and in perfect condition. There are 2 carved brass fittings to the top of the frame which can be used for hanging. Overall a stunning piece for overmantel, hallway or any statement wall. 71cm high excluding brass hangers (extra 4.5cm).
The carving itself is 98cm wide x 9.5cm high. The mirror frame is 2.5cm deep. Please contact me for further information or photos.Collection only from central London. PLEASE NOTE NO COLLECTION NOW UNTIL AFTER JAN 2, 2019. Every move risks damage because the carving stands proud of the mirror, because of the glass itself and because it is so heavy. Please contact me with any queries before purchasing as this is a lovely thing and I want you to be happy.
