Ive seen this image on Imperial Clothing/Robes, but not on a Staff Cane like this. Top of Cane has an ornate gold color metal design: appears to be Gilt Bronze: I had it tested by a Jeweler: its not Gold and a magnet does not stick to this Gilt Metal Area thus my opinion is that its Gilt Bronze.Image is that of a Fierce Imperial Dragon with a Serpent Coiled Body around this Top area. It is very detailed, and although in rough shape its well done with great detail. The Black Staff or Cane itself appears to be made of iron, painted black as a magnet does stick to it. NOTE: The construction inside this piece is odd: inside is a central wood dowel that is surrounded by a clay like material = perhaps to give it Strength? The top of the Cane clearly had some type of jewel or perhaps a Jade medallion that is no longer there and is long gone.
Cane measures approximately 35 inches in length. No attempt was made to clean or polish it.
I acquired this piece along with other Early Chinese, Japanese, Asian items from an elderly family member that I will be listing. CONDITION: Missing Ornament or Jewel/Jade at the top, crack along the side of the top gilt section as shown in the pictures, wear and oxidation, Black Cane section made out of metal possibly Iron was originally painted black = paint worn, paint flaking, or rusting in places along the staff as shown in the pictures.
